I have been an avid movie buff for years. Watching movies, memorizing lines, gaining an encyclopedic knowledge of actors, actresses, directors, screenwriters, etc. Movies, for me, are a way of life. Film has the ability, as do other forms of art, to not only entertain, but also to educate, move, and provoke. The difference is, motion pictures are, just that….motion pictures. Movies offer the viewer the unique opportunity to go on a specific journey with a character: visiting exotic lands with them, participating in adventures with them, experiencing crises with them. Movies give one permission to enjoy something other than their life for a few hours!
I have been writing reviews for a long time and until I developed this blog, they were simply kept on paper in a binder. Creating The 4th Reel has allowed me to share my reviews with movie-lovers far and wide – so much more of a reach than a 2-inch binder would ever afford. These reviews are simply my opinion, a way for the reader to ask his or herself if a particular film is worth their time or not. I try to see as many movies as I can, via screenings, film festivals, or through good, old-fashioned cinema viewings. I am, however, grateful that we live in an age of Netflix and On Demand! Movies all-day, every day!
So dive in….I hope the movie-lover in you enjoys this site as much as I enjoy sharing it with you.
