Welcome to The 4th Reel!

You are presumably here because you love movies. Me too! I have been an avid movie buff for years. Writing about film, watching movies, memorizing lines, gaining an encyclopedic knowledge of actors, actresses, directors, screenwriters, etc. Movies, for me, are a way of life. Film has the ability to not only entertain, but also to educate, move, and provoke. The primary difference between motion pictures and other forms of artistic entertainment is that motion pictures are, well, moving pictures. Movies offer the viewer the unique opportunity to go on a specific journey with a character: visiting exotic lands with them, participating in adventures with them, experiencing crises with them. The cinema grants permission for one to live a new life and enjoy something other than their own for a few hours!
 
Creating The 4th Reel has allowed me to share my reviews with movie-lovers far and wide. These reviews are simply my opinion, a way for the reader to ask his or herself if a particular film is worth their time or not. I try to see as many movies as I can, via screenings, film festivals, or through good, old-fashioned cinema viewings. I am, however, grateful that we live in an age of Netflix and On Demand! Movies all-day, every day!
